First Snow by Tucker
It started in the darkness of night,
I could feel it in the air.
Cool, raw and breezy.
All signs of what is to come.
During the evening,
It started slowly,
Gaining momentum during the wee hours.
The white drops falling,
And the streets disappearing.
In the morning,
I saw nothing but white.
I knew when I stepped outside,
My paws would quickly freeze.
I quickly relieved myself
On my favorite tree,
And scampered up
The steps to my porch,
To escape further discomfort.
Welcome winter.
I hope you will be forgiving this time.
I look forward to the day,
When the chill goes away.

Autumn by Tucker
Each day now I see the trees turning brown,
The leaves sometimes fall to the ground,
And ocassionally get blown away by a gust of wind.
The breeze is fresh and vibrant.
It is clean and healthy.
I love the change of season.
It has a life all it's own.
I love sniffing through the fallen leaves.
Each time I hope to find something interesting.
They give me a sense of who has passed before me,
And a hint of what may be coming next.
This is a lovely time to romp and play.
The air is envigorating.
I love this time of year,
And look forward to each Autumn day.

Each day brings wonders.
They are unpredictable.
A ray of sunshine
Can bring inspiration.
A dark cloud
Can bring sadness.
Every day is welcome.
They each come one at a time.
No day is exactly the same.
No matter how mundane the task.
Each day is wonderful in it's own way.
The elements may be harsh,
But the experience may be glorious.
The weather may be bright and ebullient,
But the journey rough.

Tucker's Prayer
A Prayer by Tucker
Hear my humble prayer.
It is for my clanish friends the Scottish terriers.
I pray for those who are suffering and alone.
For all that are deserted and lost,
or frightened and hungry.
I ask all who bear witness to such cruelty
To act with a compassionate heart and a gentle hand.
I pray for us all,
but especially for my Scottish brothers and sisters.

The day we are in is today.
It marks a new beginning.
The journey through it is not planned.
The road map is unclear.
Today we will do something new.
It will include adventure and risk.
We will put 25 hours into 24,
And set new records for the moment.
Now is captured,
But what about later?
Later will become the current moment,
And it will be subdued.
Today, what a joy.
The adventure was great.
The challenge was difficult,
But the end was satisfying.

As we walk the earth,
Some surfaces are hard,
Others are soft and slippery.
We must meet and overcome these edges.
As we continue along the trail,
We may stumble here and there,
But falling is not an option.

As we are about to endure several days of 90 degree temperatures, which Tucker detests, he, as always, has something to say.

Great is the sun,
It is all encompasing.
Through the royal blue days,
His rays come showering down.
To keep the room cool,
We call the air conditioner for relief.
Yet as the day moves on,
The sun tempers the brief relief.
We cannot escape his golden face,
He turns the green lawn to golden yellow.
His warm and glittering endures.
It touches everything on earth.
The sun of the world is mighty and humbling.
He can scorce as well as sooth.
He can dry the earth as dessert.
He can bring warmth when in need.

I imagine life to be what it is.
No plan can alter my dreams.
Dreams are more powerful that a plan.
For they are full of spontaneity and wonders.
Whatever I do each day, I do.
Occasional genius, most often routine.

The routine is always difficult to endure.
My heart is in everything I do.
For without it, there is no serious action.

In that instant something wonderful can occur.

Tucker's Poem
Eternity is not possible, but blissfulness is a Scottie state.
Happiness is not an ever lasting state,
but Scotties can be happy with little.
To look and observe is to be vigilant,
a state in which we often find our Scottie.
A demanding, testing state can be a challenge,
it is often how we find ourselves with our Scotties.
If stature were measured by the bark,
Scotties would stand the tallest of the tall.
Fear is an unknown state.
Scotties look at dark clouds and see rainbows.
Scotties are rainbows themselves.
They are shining bundles of gold.
